It takes a lot to become my favorite author, but after reading many of Victoria McCombs books, I knew she was mine. Her style and stories are amazing, so when I decided to write a blog post were my boyfriend picks the books I read I wasn't expecting him to pick this one.

I started it with high hopes, after all it is Victoria McComb. I grabbed some hot coffee, a big, fluffy blanket, and carefully picked out my bookmark. Then dove into the story.

✨ ℍ𝕚𝕤 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕕𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕕 𝕗𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕝𝕚𝕥 𝕓𝕪 𝕗𝕝𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕤, ℝ𝕦𝕞𝕡𝕖𝕝𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕝𝕥𝕤𝕜𝕚𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕟𝕒𝕞𝕖... ✨

Everything about this book was amazing. I really only have one thing, but it is minor. not at all due to the story. There was heartbreak and tears and love all bound up in some paper.

✨ The magic! Everyone is born with a 'gift', a minor magic that they can use throughout their life. it could be seeing the weather or good storytelling. The magic was written well, but the lack of magic in our FMC was written amazing. I know there have been complaints about how Victoria McCombs should have written her to have magic at the end of the story, but I disagree. She wrote this story perfectly. the fact the FMC didn't have magic made her so much more relatable.

🥀 This is technically a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, but I thought it was a perfect combo of that had Beauty and the Beast. I was getting so many Beauty and the Beast vibes while also being engrossed in the story and getting all the Rumpelstiltskin vibes. look the vibes were vibing okay!

💕 AAAAHHHHHH can we please please talk about the romance in here???!!!! like lovelies it is pure and sweet and full of heartbreak and healing and beautiful. the FMC fell in love with only one person but there were three love intrests, because this is spoiler free I am not going to say who she ends up with lol but man oh man Victoria did an amazing job

🌶 Spice free, beautiful romance with just some kissing and minor physical touch <3

📚 The bookishness within the book Dies this is the perfect touch ever. with an FMC and MMC that love to read and read a lot it was so refreshing that there was book talk inside a book.

👑 and now lets talk about the twisted beastly king that like WHAT?!?! he so mean cry and his arc makes sense why he did everything he did but like come on why he do that?!

🦋 the world was amazing, I would live there (after the war of course) but like wow amazing world I can't wait to read from more of it.

◊ The only con is that some of the pages have odd formatting. That is literally it.
