Book 1
The Invisible Heart by Russell Roberts
School book
“I read it in high school.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐.25
Do I recommend this book?
yes.
It was written in a way that you were cheering for the couple even though they were clearly not a couple at the time you were cheering for them. This story doesn't focus strictly on the little snippets of romance we get it is more of a meaningful classic. This novel is hard to describe because it is unlike anything I have read before. it puts a new flair on learning and a new touch on romance. While this book isn’t strictly about the romance and focuses more on other aspects like economics and school/business. It was still so much fun to get our characters together.
Book 2
Inferno by Dante
School Book
When I journeyed half of our life’s away, I found myself within a shadowed forest.
⭐⭐.5
I was expecting so much from this book. I have heard many good things about this story of a man traveling through Hell. But I was a little disappointed. It didn’t suck me in like I was hopping or have the same magical writing I was yearning for.
I have one rule. If a book is written in verse, it must be beautiful, enchanting writing. But it wasn’t. however, the story was still enjoyable.
Book 3
Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson
Fun book
“Then hold on to me,” he said. “Let me show you the stars.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
I recently joined a book club, and this was our first pick!
I have been putting this book off for a long time mostly because of all the hype it is getting. I have read books with lots of hype that aren’t good, but this book pleasantly surprised me!
The beginning few chapters were a little confusing but other than that it was a fun easy read. I read it in two settings after starting, and chapter 15 almost made me cry. I do have to say there was a moment that reminded me strongly of powerless. Which I LOVED.
So, if you are scared of all the hype around this book don't be. To me it lived up to it and was wonderful <3
Book 4
Other Voices, other Vistas an anthology
School Book
A south African theater, a Chinese prison cell, a Tamil village.
⭐⭐
I don’t have much to say about this.
It was a book I was required to read some of the stories were well done but it wasn’t anything amazing. Just your typical anthology.
Book 5
This Life of Mine by Victoria Lynn
Fun Book
"You are worth all the trouble."
⭐⭐⭐⭐.75
Where do I start?
I loved this book so much! It took me on such a wild ride, and I was very invested the whole time. Victoria’s writing felt very raw in this book, a slightly different tone then the last book I read by her - Once I Knew. Both books cover heard topics, but this one felt as if it came from a cracked heart, bleeding soul. And I applaud her for writing it. With two fearless but also very broken main characters comes a story with battles, healing, drawing, wolves, and unlikely love.
All with sprinkles of Jesus.
Thank you so much for reading! have you read any of these books? if so what are your thoughts?
Spread some Glitter <3
