Reading Only Red Books for a Week!

I have been reading a lot recently, and I thought I would turn this into a little challenge because what could be more fun? Right?
The prompt: Read only ___ Color for a Week
I have a bowl of prompts with colors from bright pink to teal blue. My physical TBR isn’t small enough, so the only other rule is that I have to OWN the book, and it has to be off my physical TBR.
Each weekly TBR will have seven books that reflect the color of that week. I might have two different shades of blue in a row, or dark red. It is impossible to say. Having seven books on the TBR doesn’t mean I will read all of those that week (of course that would be amazing!) but it gives me a little bit of choice 😉
Book 1
Romanov by Nadine Brandes

Not even royal blood can stop bullets.
⭐⭐⭐⭐.75
Nadine Brandes has officially become an auto-buy author for me. I adore the way she writes; it is easy to read and holds such deep meanings. While the books aren’t strictly Christian if you look you can see themes throughout them.
In Romanov we follow the FMC Nastya who is the Grand Dutchess. After her family is forced into exile they have to live with the harsh conditions and all the while Nastya has to keep her family together. A very hard task when one is slowly dying.
Let me say also that Zash is amazing. As a character he grew so much and found out which side of the war he wanted to be on. he learned to care and forgive. And how to love. This book had me on the edge of my seat unable to put it down.
Book 2
Evil Star by Anthony Horowitz

Welcome to the dark side of Anthony Horowitz
⭐⭐
I don’t have much to say about this book.
I didn’t like the first one in the series Raven’s Gate, at all, and hopped that it might redeem itself. It didn’t. the characters felt flat, and the plot wasn’t plotting a true shame considering the Alex Rider series by this author is one of my favorite series I have ever read. However, the ending was good.
Book 3
Return to the Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz

It’s bad to be home
⭐⭐.5
The first book I liked, this one I did not.
To be honest I don’t remember a whole lot about this book. To me it felt slow and repetitive. I was hoping that it would give me the same feeling that the Descendants movies did, but it didn’t. and for me that was a letdown. My biggest issue was that I didn’t feel attached to the characters. I didn’t care about what happened to them.
Book 4
Mortal Queens by Victoria McCombs

They vanish without a trace. Disappear into the night.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am obsessed. I can’t stop thinking about this world and the main characters. The relationships and the tension were amazing. Along with the way magic worked. And the tricks?! Phenomenal. I don’t know how long I would last to be honest, if I were to get taken by the Fae. I think I would make a bad choice and get trapped in a painting or something. Lol.
Mortal Queens follow Althea’s journey as she is chosen by the Fae to become their next mortal queen. It was her dream her whole life to be chosen by the Fae but perhaps the fantasy she made in her mind isn’t as wonderful as the stories say. Who knew the mortal queens go missing? Or worse?
Yep. I will be reading the sequel to this book ASAP! Highly highly recommend if you love whimsical writing and a world that sucks you in to its deadly grasp.
Book 5
Enhanced by Candace Kade

Lee Urban is a living lie.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had very high hopes for this book, particularly in the fighting aspect as I heard that it was extremely accurate. It didn’t feel that way to me. Despite letting me down in that the book was very intriguing, the way your Social Score determines how you live and what people will do to get a better one. As a massive fan of Maximum Ride series I had hope that this would also give me the same feeling of genetically enhanced people and it did! I loved Ash (a side character) and so many others though the event with Everest at the end had me very upset. Don’t worry! I wouldn’t’ give any spoilers 😉
In this book we follow Lee Urban a Natural in a world of Enhanced people to University where she has to fight at keeping her secret a secret. Filled with adrenaline inducing plot points and memorable characters you have the privilege to go through Urban’s troubles with her, zooming side by side through crowded streets.
Overall I did enjoy this book and will be continuing the series!
Thank you so much for reading! if you have read any of these books, I would love to hear your thoughts!
Dream big, have faith, be kind.
